The Children of Teote
The Wisconsin Chapter of Healing the Children is helping to raise funds to build a schoolhouse in the village of Teote in northern Nicaragua.
Teote is a poor community that lacks strong institutional support for education or the means to provide the necessary infrastructure and educational materials.
Our goal is to build a 3 room elementary school to serve about 80 children. The children are currently being taught in the teachers' homes.
Healing the Children is committed to improving the lives, health, education, and opportunities of these children. Please consider donating what you can, and help us to spread the word about this life-changing project for the children of Teote.

The following is a letter from one of the teachers:
The reason for this letter is to request your support for the educational community with respect to the children we serve at the different grade levels.
Since our community has very poor families, it is difficult to build a center and give their children the needed attention. Where we are teaching, does not provide the necessary conditions for the children to play. We do not have enough chairs or tables, nor do we have visual aids to work with different manual activities and storybooks, much less a toy for these children.
The pre and elementary schools receive no unconditional community support and as educators we are very abandoned.
Visual aids for the class, we purchase ourselves, but with our salary of 500 cordobas ($19) per month, it is difficult. Our only human resouces are the parents of these children.
We thank you and value your desire to help our community and these children.
May the Lord bless you and keep and spill abundant blessing on you.
