Preparing for Overseas Surgical Trips
The Greater Philadelphia chapter of Healing the Children is preparing for its 11th consecutive DPM/Ortho/CPO medical mission to El Salvador in September. Over the years, our surgical teams have provided hundreds of life-saving and life-changing procedures in El Salvador for children who otherwise would not have access to the care they need.
Even before our volunteers hit the ground, it takes months of preparation by our coordinators, international partners, local volunteers and medical partners to bring together a successful trip. On top of coordinating volunteer medical staff and the logistics of the trip itself, a remarkable amount of equipment and supplies are needed to support these medical missions.
We rely on the generous support and cooperation of medical institutions around the country to provide the materials needed to provide the overseas surgical services we bring to children. This pallet of supplies is on its way from Arizona Joint and Spine Hospital to Miami, where the El Salvador Rotary will get it into the country to be ready for the surgical clinic beginning September 20.
We can’t say thank you enough to all of our generous volunteers, partners, and suppliers for the hard work they do to help us bring healing to children around the world.
